This guy is no ordinary one, far from just another golfer of our past, Peter Thompson is a unique mind of titanic human proportions. This is the man who successfully laid claim to five Open Championship victories, four of which came before he reached his 28th birthday. Three of these were consecutive wins and between 1952 and 1958 he would finish no worse than 2nd on his beloved links. Thompson's Open statistics really are mighty impressive, between his first Open in 1951 and 1971 he was only outside the top 10 on 3 occasions when even then he was no worse than 24th.
